North of M/West of New Jersey

The area bounded by M Street, the SE Freeway, New Jersey Avenue, and South Capitol Street is currently home to taxi companies, auto repair shops, a few nightclubs, and industrial lots along I Street. But developers now own much of this area, and are making plans to add many office and residential buildings to these blocks.

And the same location, 2 1/2 years later, after a slew of demolitions in April 2007 cleared the Nation, Velocity, and 909 New Jersey lots. The Onyx on First construction at left is topped out, as is 70/100 I at far right. Velocity's vertical construction has now begun, and 909 New Jersey is not far behind.
